What I Learned About God from a 3 yr Old

You can learn so much about yourself, life, and God by observing your children. Today my 38 month old spilled something again after spilling the same thing this morning. He didn’t want me to be mad, so he starts cleaning it up and saying, “I clean it. I clean it.” Then when he saw that I got frustrated, he threw himself on the ground and said, “I bad kid!” I immediately stopped being mad and was now focused on assuring him that he was NOT a bad kid, but a good kid! Not only did my anger disappear, I was now focused on making HIM feel better! WOW! Bingo! How did Adam (AS) get forgiven? “Qala rabbana thalamna anfusana wain lam taghfir lana watarhamna lanakoonanna mina alkhasireena”: “They said: “Our Lord! We have wronged our own souls: If thou forgive us not and bestow not upon us Thy Mercy, we shall certainly be lost.” (Quran 7:23) He ‘threw himself down’, so Allah, not only forgave, but picked him back up! Allahu akbar!

I’m sorry sister Yasmin, but i dont quite understand the moral of the story.

The moral of the story, Mr. Amin, is that if after doing something wrong/sinful, you sincerely ask for God’s forgiveness, He will not only forgive you but also love you and reward you in the Hereafter. On the contrary, if you persist in your wrong doing and refuse to beg for Allah’s forgiveness, as Iblis did, you will earn your Lord’s wrath/anger and will be punished in the Hereafter.

Motherhood is another extension of God’s Love and Mercy :) Great blog, sister! You are an inspiration…

  • This is so true. We learn a lot from our little ones, Masha Allah! I loved the ending! Prophet Adam’s (AS) – if he had said that…”We have wronged our own souls”.. how much we need to say! Asthagfirullah, how much we have wronged ourselves…!!

Much love to you and of course to your cutie too!

Masha’Allah, I see the moral in this story. Many times I pause at some words my siblings say and I reflect. Just a handful of words can teach you a lesson.
